Säteilyltä suojautuminen


Jos ihminen joutuu tilaan, missä hän kohtaa voimakasta alfa, beta tai gammasäteilyä, niin silloin ei tavallinen kemikaaleilta suojaava tuvavarustus riitä. Alfasäteily eli ionisoitunut Helium-atomin ydin ei ole kovin vaaarallinen, koska se ei lävistä edes kumista suojapukua. Mutta jos tuo ioni pääsee ihmisen kauhkoihin, niin silloin se vahinngoittaa helposti solun DNA-molekyyliä, ja aiheuttaa erittäin vakavia mutaatioita. Eli nuo solut muuttuvat helposti syöpäsoluiksi. Ja tietenkin myös tupakointi lisää tuota riskiä, ja yhteisaltistus sekä kemiallisen- että elektromagneettisen agentin taholta johtaa melko varmasti keuhko- tai muuhun syöpään.

Tämän ongelman sitten tuo se, että helium on muutenkin jalokaasu, mikä lävistää helposti mm. aktiivihiilisuodatinta. Samoin tuo elektromagneettinen eli ionisoiva gammasäteily saa helposti myös muita atomeja luovuttamaan elektronikuoriltaan elektroneja, ja esimerkiksi happi- ja typpi-ioneilla on vastaava vaikutus ihmisen perimään kuin helium-ioneillakin on. Joten pelkkä kaasunaamarin käyttö ei riitä, kun esimerkiksi reaktorin jäänteitä mennään raivaamaan. Tuollaisessa tilanteessa pitää käyttää happilaitetta, joka estää kaasujen pääsyn keuhkoihin, ja jossa ei tapahdu läpihengitystä. Kierrättävällä eli suljettuun kiertoon tukeutuvalla pullohappeen perustuvalla laitteistolla saavutetaan parempi työturvallisuus kuin normaaleilla pullohappijärjestelmällä.

Beta- ja Gammasäteilyltä voidaan suojautua käyttämällä sekä lyijyliiviä sekä kullattua lyijyllä vuorattua SWAT- kilpeä, mikä suoja kohti tulevalta elektromagneettiselta säteilyltä. Eli kultauksen tarkoitus on tehdä tiivis pinta, mikä estää sähkömagneettisen säteilyn tunkeutuminen aineeseen. Ja tämän takia kultausta käytetään myös sateliiteissa, eli sen tehtävä on suojella avaruusaluksen elektroniikkaa voimakkaalta hiukkas- ja lyhytaaltoiselta säteilyltä, joka indusoi sähkökentän niiden elektroniikkaan aiheuttaen sateliiteille vaurioita. Tämä sama ilmiö estää myös ihmisen hermoston toiminnan, koska sähkökuormitus estää hermoston sähköisen toiminnan, ja tämän takia kyseiset suojapuvut pitää varustaa rauta- tai kupariverkolla eli "fardayn häkillä", mikä estää sähkökentän muodostumisen tuon suojapuvun sisään. Ja tietenkin noiden henkilöiden on käytettävä suuria jodiannoksia tehtävän aikana sekä noudatettava muutenkin hyviä elämäntapoja. Eli he eivät saisi polttaa tupakkaa, jotta kemiallinen altistus saada syöpä olisi mahdollisimman pieni. Ja käytön jälkeen varusteita on käsiteltävä kuin ydinjätettä, koska ne muuttuvat radioaktiivisiksi peittyessään radioaktiivisista aineista.

The shape of the brain means more than neuro connectivity.

Well, we might say that the brain is in its entirety. Another thing is that all things in the brain have some kind of purpose. The shape of the brain and, especially, the folding of the brain shell are extremely important things. Those folds are expanding the brain's surface areas. Or as you see from the image. The glass fibers are on both sides of the DNA.  DNA molecule is the thing, that involves the genetic code of the cells. Genetically engineered cells can make DNA, and those molecules can used as the nanomaterial's structures. DNA manipulation makes it possible to create new types of extremely strong materials.
